On the alt. country front, Roots and Blues is pleased that Altameda, a young band from Edmonton that heads to the UK next month to play major festivals, will be playing Roots and Blues. This quartet, formed out of a recording session for singer-songwriter Troy Snaterse, quickly became a group on a mission to create something new. Despite the quartet finding their roots in various genres, they felt compelled to blend their individual styles with the Canadiana sound that shaped their younger years. During the sessions for the group’s debut LP, Dirty Rain, it was clear that the band felt a chemistry that only develops through shared experiences. Dirty Rain quickly made it to the number one spot on Alberta’s popular public broadcasting network CKUA. “Altameda’s ‘Dirty Rain’ is the perfect summer soundtrack” -says Exclaim!
